Dogs undergo two distinct fear periods in their life; first one happens between 8-12 weeks old and the other at 6-14 months. During these periods, they learn to differentiate the difference between safety and danger, mixed with growth spurt and sexual maturation. There’s a lot going on internally 🐶
Here are some tips to help your dog through this scary phase:
1) Stay calm! Your dog is your reflection so if you’re nervous, they become nervous too 😉
2) Talk in a relaxed, cheerful and reassuring tone as much as possible 💁♀️
3) Avoid new environments and frightening experiences 🎭🎳🎰🥁
4) Use positive reinforcement. Praise and reward them for good behavior 🐾
5) Always ensure supervised socialization with people and other dogs 🐕
