Andrea is part of the team at Centro Jambatu which has become one of the leading conservation breeding centers for harlequin toads in the world. Re:wild continues to partner with the centrojambatu team and other members of the Atelopus Survival Initiative to support a coordinated and collaborative network of harlequin toad experts to save this genus from the brink of extinction. Centro Jambatu also shares its findings and best practices with initiative members who are working to conserve other species of harlequin toads. About 40% of harlequin toad species have disappeared from their known homes and have not been seen since the early 2000s.
