🦎🌟 Members of #TeamRewild were thrilled to join the SanAntonioZoo to release over 30 Texas Horned Lizards into the wild outside of Austin, Texas. These young quarter-sized lizards found their new home on a protected area where adult lizards from previous releases have been thriving. Thanks to the Brown Foundation and Re:wild's support, this project has been a success. The Texas Horned Lizard, is an iconic reptile native to Texas that has faced significant threats in recent years. The species' population dwindled due to the introduction of fire ants, but dedicated conservationists are working to reverse this decline. Thise project not only restores a beloved species but also reconnects people with their childhood memories of encountering these unique reptiles, fondly known as "horned toads."
