Deep in the Ecuadorian Amazon lies one of the most biodiverse places on Earth: Yasuní. In just one hectare of Yasuní territory — about the size of two soccer fields — live more species of trees and plants than in any other hectare on Earth. Yasuní National Park is threatened by fossil fuel extraction. But Ecuadorians have an unprecedented opportunity to make history for our planet next month by voting to protect this vital place. This biodiversity hotspot is in the Ecuadorian Amazon and is a veritable wildlife paradise. It is home to White-lipped Peccaries, Lowland Tapirs, Jaguars, Short-eared Dogs, 13 species of primates, and thousands of other species that make this a thriving ecosystem. We cannot curb climate change without protecting our biodiversity.
