🦒 Happy #WorldGiraffeDay! Let's celebrate these magnificent creatures and their important role in keeping Africa’s forests and savannas wild. As "architects of the trees," giraffes shape the landscape by pruning branches and dispersing seeds, contributing to the growth and regeneration of habitat. Giraffes have incredibly long necks, but did you know that their necks contain the same number of vertebrae as human necks? Spotting a giraffe's unique coat pattern is like finding a fingerprint. No two giraffes have the same pattern. While the giraffes in these photos live on the plains of Kenya, their cousins in the Okavango Delta are threatened by oil exploration. Re:wild works with local partners and communities in Botswana and Namibia to protect the Okavango River Basin and the wildlife and people who live there. #StandwithKavango #SavetheOkavango 📸: robindmoore Re:wild
