A Brazilian federal judge recently cancelled the licenses for the wind power project.
Renewable energy is critically important in the fight against climate change, but locations for these infrastructure projects is also key to ensure that threatened wildlife are protected from the risk of collisions and habitat loss. The area for the wind power project has been designated as an Alliance for Zero Extinction (AZE) site and a Key Biodiversity Area—areas that should be off limits for projects like these.
