35 years ago when my Dad founded Union Heritage, the name was conceived as both an homage to my grandparents — who were all in unions — and a representation of the clients whose money we managed — union workers.
Heritage, a nod to our legacy and the generational family business my father hoped to build. I said no more than a few times. I didn’t think it would be a part of my journey. But the wave always comes to shore.
Earlier this year we moved our offices into
@newlab @michigancentraldetroit. The building now known as the Book Depository was formerly the Roosevelt Post Office — the same building where my grandfather worked as a mail clerk. Everyday that I walk into my office I feel equal parts pride and gratitude for what we’re building in this next chapter — the only African-American majority owned venture capital firm in the state — and that we have the opportunity to do it together.

Happy Father’s Day, Dada!
And thanks to
