Here’s what to know!
• Para Taekwondo made its Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020. Brazil took home the most medals in the sport with a gold, silver and bronze.
• Athletes wear protective equipment and sensor socks which determines if a point is scored when hitting their opponent’s torso.
• At Tokyo 2020, Angelica Espinoza became Peru’s first Paralympic champion since Sydney 2000 after winning gold in the women’s K44 -49kg event.
• At Paris 2024, athletes will compete in the K44 class. They compete against each other in one of five weight categories.
• At paris2024 Para Taekwondo will take place at the Grand Palais. It was built for the Paris Universal Exposition in 1900 and is undergoing a full restoration for Paris 2024.
