8-year-old Zelia and 5-year-old Orgencia stay safe from malaria as they sit under a mosquito net at their home in #Mozambique. Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease that can have devastating health impacts. Young kids are among the most vulnerable, with the disease killing one child every two minutes. Over the past year, countries around the world have continued their fight against malaria, working to prevent and treat the disease despite the continued impacts of the #COVID19 pandemic. Africa remains the most affected, with the continent recording 95% of all global malaria cases. In areas where malaria is a threat, the World Health Organization (who) recommends wearing light-coloured clothing, using insect repellent, removing stagnant water and sleeping under a bed net to protect yourself from mosquito bites. 📸: WHO/T.
