When the crews charged with restoring Michigan Central Station started work in 2018, there were a bunch of empty squares in the historic reading room and tea room where decorative pieces once were. Long ago, they walked away. With no historical photos, showing what they looked like, they were stumped. That is, until a collector reached out saying that he had a pair of these plaster ram’s heads. He lent them to the team, which 3D-scanned them and created plaster molds. These plaster molds were then used to replicate the missing capitals, which were then painted in the same way they were done 110 years ago. Needless to say, they really tie the rooms together.
