Today, we’re looking back at Jayne Arledge’s record-breaking career!
Arledge was the first female athlete in WCU history to receive an athletic scholarship. The two-time All-State selection helped lead the Catamounts to four consecutive winning seasons from 1976-1979.
She holds eight single-game, season, and career records, including the all-time points record at 1,928, and is the only female athlete to have her jersey retired.
Arledge went on to coach volleyball and women’s basketball at North Greenville University.
The legendary Catamount was inducted into the WCU Hall of Fame in 1992 and the North Greenville Hall of Fame in 2019.
