Nothing yet has compared to the high which I felt hiking down
#MtWhitney. Maybe it was the lack of good sleep combined with physically demanding days. Maybe it was the shots of fireball at high
#altitude after 4 hours of
#hiking just to be at the top by
#sunrise. Maybe it was knowing that for the first time in 3 weeks I would sleep in a real bed after eating real food and downing a cold beer. Or maybe it was realizing that I wouldn't have to wake up the next day and
#hike another 20km. Or perhaps it was
#summiting the 2nd tallest
#peak in the US, after almost 400km of
#backpacking. The
#JMT made me appreciate the simple things in life we take for granted - cell reception, showers, clean clothes, sleeping on a mattress, not having blisters etc. But there's something amazing about being cut off from the rest of the world. Finding yourself far from civilization and anything artificial is something some people go their who lives without... SO Eager to get lost in the New Zealand
