Another Wednesday, another great Woman to celebrate! This week we look to Kat Young! “- If any of you have seen Hidden Figures, it was about a woman named Katherine Johnson. She grew up in a time where segregation was common place in schools and workplaces. Though she was a mathematician at NASA, she was placed in a laboratory with lesser resources along with the rest of the African-American mathematicians. Many doubted her abilities because of both her gender and the color of her skin. However, Katherine knew for a fact that she would have a bigger contribution than others thought she would. She ended up doing the most complex calculations that allowed the United States to get to space during the Space Race of the 1960s! She earned her respect by proving everyone wrong and doing calculations that nobody else could. She didn't allow the thoughts of others to determine her worth.
