I’ve had a few people reach out and ask what was going on here so I figured why not share. So after the pit stop the tires can tell you a lot about how the car is running. So the teams check a few different things. One of which is how much the tire has worn but in order to accurately check the wear they have to clean off the junk that gets picked up as the cars roller down pit road. So they use a torch and a metal scraper and that’s what what you see here.
