#MeetTheExpert: Dr. Aminata Coulibaly is a distinguished member of WVU's Department of Neurology.
Coulibaly's lab focuses on understanding the interplay between the immune system and the central nervous system. Building off her previous work, the Coulibaly laboratory is trying to understand how neutrophils interact with the brain in basic cognition, after stroke, and in Alzheimer's Disease. This is done using various transgenic mouse models, cell culture, pharmaceuticals compounds, immunological assays, and imaging.
“The most rewarding aspect of my job is the science. It is rewarding to take in different information published and get a snapshot of the physiological process in place. I love interacting with students and colleagues intellectually. I truly enjoy working with my students to come up with solutions or ways to better answer our science questions. I love attending conferences to share the work my amazing lab members are performing.”
