Last week, a team of undergraduate students competed in NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate’s 2022 Gateways to Blue Skies: Airports of Tomorrow Competition. They placed second and were invited to present to the Las Vegas Airport Strategic Planning Committee. They were advised by Elizabeth Newton and Ethan Rivera of the Battelle Center and other OSU faculty. The Battelle Center provided guidance and space for the students to meet and brainstorm. The team's airport design, named “Project ECOAir,” included hydrogen and bio-fueling systems, electric charging stations and increased gate-runway mobility.
