As a mother of 3 who struggled with breastfeeding, I tell all my mamas in practice: "Just because breastfeeding is natural does not mean it's easy." Over the past 15 years, it's been wonderful to see the changes to support our breastfeeding mothers. Protected time and space to pump, advocacy for nursing in public and more support in the workplace. It's come a LONG way since I was pumping in bathrooms or feeling embarrassed when I nursed outside the house! No matter what you decide, my philosophy is this: some is better than none. But what I don't want to see is mamas not reaching their breastfeeding goals because they didn't get the support they needed. Those first few days and weeks are SO essential. Just like you had support during the pregnancy, breastfeeding support in the #4thTrimester is just as essential--especially when it comes to breastfeeding.
