We are so proud of our Medical Spanish and Medical French teams who volunteered their time at a health fair for migrant workers on the Eastern Shore recently. EVMS Global Health collaborated with the Eastern Shore Rural Health Outreach team, Pacific Tomato Growers, Minority Aids Support Services, Farmworker Justice, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, and the ODU Physical Therapy department on the event. Volunteers performed glucose screening for primarily Spanish-speaking and Haitian Creole-speaking migrant workers and were able to identify and converse with patients who needed further medical attention for elevated blood glucose and to optimize diabetes management. #service #community #easternshore #globalhealth #communityhealth
