I started blogging in 2010. I was going vegan for 6 months in an attempt to lower my (very high) cholesterol and I wanted to document the process. At the time, I didn't know that I had Familial Hypercholesterolemia. I just knew my cholesterol had always been high, just like my dad and my grandma. 🤷🏻♀️

That 6 month experiment was such a blessing. Although my cholesterol didn't budge (not even a little) it was the very start of a path that brought me here, into this little blog world!

Even though my cholesterol had been off the charts since I first had it tested at age 11, I wasn’t diagnosed with FH until I was 29. I was fortunate to find a wonderful cardiologist here in Richmond who recognized FH, helped me figure out medication options and got my LDL into a safe range.
