This morning, the PA program kicked off Day 1 of our inaugural “Kenneth LeGree Hallman, MD Memorial Lecture Series: Patient-Centered Approach to Identification and Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder.” Dr. Michael Bohan of Meridian Psychotherapy accepted a plaque in honor of Dr. Hallman and shared some wise words with the MPA Class of 2019.
Angela Conrad, MPA ‘05, and her brother Branden shared their own experiences through viewing of their documentary, “A Personal Story of Addiction.” We rounded out the morning with a panel of patients in recovery from all walks of life. The panelists shared invaluable insights with the students about how to effectively communicate with patients in active addiction and how to support their lifelong recovery through a strong patient-provider relationship.
