This week, Port Field Hockey took on Massapequa and Baldwin. Both games were important, as they are Class A teams that Port will face during playoffs. • The game at Massapequa was exciting, but highly defensive. Rachel Nissan was able to put away one goal, but the opposing team was able to sweep four in. Senior goalie Nikki Gonzalez had 20 saves, contributing to her 90 saves this far in the season. Port had many shots on goal, but was unable to win the game. Final score: 1-4. • The girls then travelled to Baldwin on Sunday. This game was extremely important to Port’s seed placement in the Class A Playoffs. If the team won the game, their seed 2 position would be secured; if the team lost, their position would not be sure. The grass field made for a bumpy game.
