Linkin Park’s ‘Somewhere I Belong’ is now certified Gold in the UK Mike Shinoda: “‘Hybrid Theory’ was an attempt to introduce ourselves; to make a bold statement…on the second record, we now had room to further the conversation…We pulled back on the heavy rock elements a lot. Then there were songs like ‘Faint’ and ‘Somewhere I Belong’, there are loops, like the string loop and the percussion were not rock elements.
