RIDER SPOTLIGHT: This is our webmaster, Tara Martin. Tara is from Waxhaw, NC. She is a Sociology major with a concentration in Family & Intimate Relationships. Tara has her own horse, a Percheron/Thoroughbred jumper named Athena. She loves draft horses! She has been riding for around 14 years. She started out riding western when she was young, but transitioned to english riding when she was around 9. One of the barns she took lessons at had a few drafts (Percheron, spotted Draft, Belgian X, etc.) for their vaulting program, where she fell in love with the larger breeds. Since then, she has been working at a trail riding business in Charlotte, NC where they have a few Belgians. Tara began her college career at Gardner-Webb University, where she leased a horse named Mason, and then purchased her own Percheron X. After transferring to App State last year, she began competing through IHSA. After graduation in the Spring, she hopes to start bringing Athena to shows in the Charlotte, NC area...
