🚨 Rep. George Santos announced he will not seek re-election to the House next year , following the House Ethics Committteee release of its long awaited report on Thursday, which concluded that there is “substantial evidence” that the New York congressman used campaign funds for personal purposes.
House investigators found evidence that Santos used campaign funds for personal purposes, defrauded donors, and filed false or incomplete campaign finance and financial disclosure reports, according to a 56 page report. The committee voted unanimously to refer its finding to the Department of Justice, saying that Santos's conduct "warrants public condemnation, is beneath the dignity of the office, and has brought severe discredit upon the House.
While the panel avoided recommending any punitive measures, there were already indications that the report could be the catalyst for a third effort to remove Rep. Santos from office.
