They are Georgian dumplings — said to have originated in China and to be brought to Georgia during its conquest by Mongolians. They have a soupy filling and are usually stuffed with different meats like beef, lamb, or pork.
You are supposed to eat them upside down; hold them by the stem and take a small bite. Suck out the broth and continue eating them. Lastly, the stem is typically discarded — it’s too chewy. I loved them, please try Georgian food if you can!
