There are few things quite as satisfactory as taking care of the backyard—even moreso because of the abundance of wildlife that make it all the more enjoyable. Along with our koi, we’ve had three species of frogs, thirteen species of birds, and a carefree cottontail living in the yard. It’s become a simple joy to refill their feeder and toss the squirrels and bluejays some peanuts. This Hurter’s Spadefoot Toad (?) could care less that I pulled him out of the water pump. In fact, he was quite perturbed that I was trying to shake him off the filter into the crabgrass surrounding the pond... Now just waiting on our monarchs, dragonflies, and hummingbirds. #oklahoma #oklahomawildlife #frog #toad
