#MiamiOH first lady Martha Shriver (1965-1981) was well-known for her brownie and cookie creations. On
#NationalBrownieDay, we've whipped up her famous brownie recipe to celebrate. The perfect holiday treat, get the full recipe here:
Melt together:
4 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate
1/2 sticks margarine or butter
Let this mixture cool.
Add:
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Stir all ingredients together.
Pour into a greased 9x12 pan with greased wax paper on the bottom
Bake at 375 degrees for 28 minutes. Turn the pan upside down onto a cookie sheet. Remove the wax paper. Turn brownies back into baking pan.
To frost the Brownies:
Be sure the baked brownies are cooled to room temperature.
Layer one:
4 tablespoons butter, soft
2 cups confectioners' sugar (powdered sugar)
2 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 teaspoons peppermint extract
3 to 4 drops green food coloring
Blend above 5 ingredients to creamy consistency.
