#MeetTheTeam Stewart Ashworth is our Auckland-based horse ambulance driver/operator, responsible for covering thoroughbred and harness race meetings in the region from Ruakaka down to Cambridge. Stew has seen many horses saved by the horse ambulance being on course, due to its ability to lower to the ground so that an injured horse can walk on and off. He says the horse ambulance also gives dignity to the horse and connections. In his 'day job' Stew is Head Groundsman at Alexandra Park, where he has worked for 10 years. He also drives the mobile start car at both Alexandra Park and at Cambridge. Stew, and his wife Karen, are thrilled to have Sweet Belle in the 3YO Fillies Diamond race at the prestigious IRT Harness Jewels 2021 at Cambridge Raceway on Sunday.
