The regally-bred Mamma Sans is #backontrack after a nasty fall at Motukarara in November 2019. Jane – as she is affectionately known at home, clipped heels with another runner in the home straight and crashed to the ground. She got to her feet and cantered away, however, had suffered a serious injury to her right foreleg. Jockey, Brett Murray, was transferred to hospital with a suspected collarbone fracture. Mamma Sans was treated by the on-course vet and transferred by horse ambulance to Canterbury Equine Clinic for further evaluation. She couldn’t weight bear on her off fore and was scanned for fractures or damage to that leg. The equine vets could not pinpoint the exact cause of the injury and put it down to possible nerve damage in the shoulder. After two months of rest and recuperation in a paddock at home, Mamma Sans began to recover her movement.
