A key feature of NZ's unique horse ambulance is a hydraulic system that drops it to ground level within five seconds. The ambulance lowers by hydraulic suspension, while still attached to the tow vehicle. When lowered, the step from ground level to floor height is 135mm. The horse enters, and exits, at ground level without needing to turn; making it safer for transport, and more manageable, for an injured or sedated horse.
