If you’re into wine, you know Oregon has a reputation for being one of the best wine regions in the country. Next weekend, on June 30, the small town of McMinnville (an hour southwest of Portland) will be raising a glass to more than just that. Since 2022, Remy Drabkin, the town’s mayor slash winemaker and owner of Remy Wines, has hosted the QueerWineFest as a way to unite the LGBTQ+ wine community. ⁠ ⁠ To be selected as one of the 15 wineries to pour at the intimate outdoor tasting event, your business must be queer-owned, use queer-grown grapes, and/or employ queer winemakers. Beyond the vino, the festival also supports others in the queer community with music by CampCrush, local fare served by blindpig_x_renegade, ice cream from saltandstraw, a limited-edition Pride bottle by artist victoriabradleystudio, and the new Queer Art & Artist Showcase curated by fromzab featuring ten LGBTQ+ artists and their works.
