Keirsten Lyons completed her #43miles and continues to run her “HeroMiles”. She said, “Running is both cathartic and hard for me, as the things that make you feel closest to someone often are. My someone is my son, Sgt Jacob Hess, who died in Afghanistan in 2014. We ran our first two marathons together when he was just a teenager, and after he died, running became the only way I knew how to breathe. When the M43 Miles Challenge came along, it seemed like just the right thing to jump start my miles and remember the thing that together we loved. So I run my miles for my son, Jake, always.
