He ended up at UCLA and played on the football team, where even though he compares his experience to Bobby Bouche’s in Waterboy, Dan graduated with a degree in history and then went into action on the Global War on Terror. While deployed, he joined a band of paratrooping terrorist-fighters as a young infantry officer in the 82nd Airborne Division and later wandered into the world of barrel-chested freedom fighters as a Army Special Forces Officer (Green Beret). ⁣ ⁣ Dan’s identity, for better or worse, was shaped through his deployments to places like Iraq, Afghanistan, North Africa, The Levant, and the Philippines.
