After the World Trade Center collapse on Sept. 11, 2001, more than 20,000 emergency workers heeded the call for help; 300 of those heroes were dogs. Cowboy, a FEMA certified Border Collie, was one of them. I am amazed and forever grateful for the selfless heroes that show up in the wake of tragedy, that rush in when everyone else is rushing out.
