It's Thursday so we're throwing it back to 1970 in Downtown Tempe! Lights, camera and movies at Valley Theatre on Mill Ave circa 1970! The theatre was constructed in 1938 by Dwight "Red" Harkins. This was Harkins' third theater in Tempe. Did you know that before this theatre was built, in 1934, Harkins started an outdoor theater in Tempe Beach Park, which operated for one summer only?
