St. John Fisher University has named Reid Lesswing (R) & Scott McDonald (L) as their inaugural coaches for varsity ice hockey beginning in the 2025-2026 season. Both teams will compete in the
#UCHC.
Lesswing, a Buffalo, NY native, is a 2014 graduate of Castleton University & comes to SJFU from SUNY Plattsburgh, where he served as men’s ice hockey assistant coach & operations manager since 2019. Prior to that, Lesswing also had coaching stints with SUNY Fredonia, Castleton & Team South Africa (
#IIHF Div. 3).
He also played professional hockey for the Louisiana Ice Gators (
#SPHL) in 2014 after a collegiate career with Castleton University in Vermont. While with the Spartans, Lesswing played 98 games accumulating 15 points with two goals, thirteen assists. He served as team captain his senior year.
