That’s just the wave. All good things come to those who wait, and on their third-ever game, the San Diego Wave finally tallied their first Challenge Cup win. Their first two matches had seen them draw against Angel City and narrowly lose to the Thorns. This time, they faced Angel City for the second episode of this SoCal derby, and they clinched a historic win at home. Of course, it only made sense that the two SoCal stars, Alex Morgan and Christen Press, played a prominent role in this derby. Morgan — with all her class and experience — bagged a brace to pull her team ahead, showing that even at 32, she can hang with the best of them. Christen Press, pulled one back to make the game close, but the Wave were able shake things off and see out their first win. In the end, the game ended as a six-goal score fest that will go down in history. SoCal WoSo is in good hands.
