Freeze Frames. It was quite an eventful Saturday night over in Minnesota as the ‘Loons’ hosted Nashville SC in their home opener. With below-freezing conditions ahead of kickoff, many worried that play would suffer. Still, the rain, sleet, and snow weren’t enough to stop Mukhtar and CJ Sapong from heating up early in the first half, with the latter tapping in a well-worked routine in the 5th minute. The Mukhtar-Sapong duo worked wonders in 2021, and it looks like this year they’ll be at it again. The rest of the half didn’t disappoint either as both teams were denied goals by the woodwork. It seemed as if the second half would give us more of the same back-and-forth action between both sides, but the freezing temperatures and a lightning strike in the area would finally end up dampening the match.
