There’s no place like home. The size of the championship banner may have been a disappointment to some, but the size of the win was not. New York City FC 4-1 CF Montreal. Big day and big win for the boys in blue. They may have waited two weeks to score their first of the season, but the wait was well worth it. Ronny Deila saved the best for his home crowd, with Talles Magno and Thiago Andrade both on the scoreboard in the second half to drive home a convincing win for the MLS Cup Champions. Then, there’s Alexander ‘Iron Man’ Callens. That nickname is years old now, but more fitting than ever today. A machine on the field, whether defending or attacking the net, he’ll always deliver. Opened the scoring yesterday and delivered yet another performance worthy of that Avenger comparison. After a scoreless drought in the league, the Pigeons have finally returned, and they’re here to stay.
