Assistant Professor Jessica Varghese, Ph.D., always pictured herself in higher education. As a college student, she couldn’t help but notice the lack of diversity and wanted to be part of the solution. “There is a lack of diversity in nursing faculty across the country, and I knew I wanted to help address that,” says Varghese. “Going to college, I couldn't identify with any of my professors because they didn't look anything like me.” After working in nursing staff development for more than 15 years, Varghese is now a faculty member and the director of the online RN to B.S. program in the School of Health Professions.  She takes pride in teaching and in getting to learn about her students as people by supporting their extracurricular activities. “By understanding that part of who they are, I get to see a more holistic view of them as a student,” says Varghese.
