For Visiting Professor Gertrudis Brens, M.Arch., working at New York Tech is a full-circle moment. As a first-generation college graduate and Hispanic woman of color, Brens' storied career in architecture started with her graduating with her B.S.A.T. from NYIT School of Architecture and Design. Soon after, Brens earned her master’s degree in architecture from Parsons School of Design. She's returned to her roots at New York Tech, where, in addition to her role as a visiting professor, she's also the director of the Interior Design Department and chair of the Adjunct Faculty Affairs Committee. "Being an advocate for our students, particularly those who do not typically see themselves represented in positions of leadership in higher education design disciplines," says Brens is her biggest accomplishment. Head over to our Instagram stories for this week's #FacultyFeature to learn more about Brens' passion for being a professor and more. 📲
