As the name implies, the Supporters' Shield was made by the fans — not the league — to reward the team with the most points at the end of the MLS regular season. Back in 1997, Tampa Bay Mutiny supporter Nick Lawrus came up with the idea for the trophy. The project caught momentum the following year, and by 1999, the 35lb silver trophy was created. Since then, it has been passed from supporter group to supporter group, and today it's in the hands of
