Courage, confidence, and character—she had it and she used it to change the world as a civil rights leader! For #RosaParksDay, we acknowledge the anniversary of the civil rights activist’s refusal to give up her seat which igniting the Montgomery Bus Boycott movement. But #DYK her work continued? After the peak of the civil rights movement, Parks remained a pillar in her community. She continued to be an active member of several organizations, continuing the fight for equality. She remained an advocate for Black people, women, and prisoners, speaking against global events such as the Vietnam War and apartheid. She even founded her own organization, the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development, which focused on motivating and directing underserved youth to achieve their highest potential. Today and every day, we thank #RosaParks for her voice and for being a champion and inspiration for equality.
