Did you catch our Education Programs Specialist Abby Doran and Special Collections Archivist Sandra Glascock “On the Record” with Sheilah Kast?
In this feature by wypr881fm , Doran and Glascock detail collections at the Maryland Center for History and Culture (MCHC) that tell the stories of LGBTQ+ Marylanders – from the Club Hippo Sign on display in the “Discover Maryland” exhibition to the H. Furlong Baldwin Library’s Mark Procopio Collection featuring pamphlets, brochures, and zines from the movement. An example from the Mark Procopio Collection featured here is “The Story of My Name,” a Trans Zine Project by Red Emma’s and FreeState Legal (now FreeState Justice) which features six autobiographical writings by transgender Marylanders.
This Pride Month, we invite you to explore how these collections show continuity and change within our state’s LGBTQ+ community. Explore the source at the link in our bio.
