Happy 293rd birthday to Baltimore!
#OnThisDay in 1729, the Maryland General Assembly successfully passed an act allowing “the building of a Town on the North side of the Patapsco River.” This map from our library collection depicts the city's humble beginnings of 60 acres divided into 60 lots. The map shows Long Street (East/West) at the intersections of Forest Street and Calvert Street (both North/South).
