On this #ThrowbackThursday, we look back 30 years to the opening of "Mining the Museum," a landmark art installation (April 1992-Feburary 1993) created by Fred Wilson, in partnership with the Contemporary Museum and MCHC, then known as the Maryland Historical Society. “Mining the Museum" was provocative and thought-provoking in the museum field. It is a part of the curriculum for most museum studies programs and a continual source of inspiration for researchers around the world. In this introductory film produced for “Mining the Museum,” Fred Wilson explains his approach to the collections at MCHC.
