Join us at this year’s Summer Teacher Institute where educators will have the opportunity to learn from scholars, including Dr. Christopher Bonner and Dr. Richard Bell of the University of Maryland Department of History. Dr. Bonner is a distinguished scholar of Black perspectives and politics who in 2020 released his book "Remaking the Republic: Black Politics and the Creation of American Citizenship." He has particularly focused on the fascinating history of the Colonization movement and Black Americans counter-efforts to fight for full citizenship in the US. Dr. Bell is an award-winning author, and Maryland Center for History and Culture trustee, He is a regular UMD speaker who will bring his knowledge and expertise on American history, and will share the latest research findings in honor of the Institute’s topic focus.
