We wouldn't be the institution we are today without generous donors like Frederick resident Marlene Young, who recently donated 15 dresses and accessories designed by Maryland-native Claire McCardell to our fashion archives. Some of these donations will likely be added to our upcoming exhibition opening in October spotlighting McCardell's contributions to American sportswear. Marlene's donation is highlighted in an article this month published by Frederick Magazine (fredmag.com/2022/04/05/insider-may-2022). Thank you Marlene for your kind words: “I consider it a joy and an honor to bring my personal collection of Claire McCardell fashions from the darkness of my closets into the public light of Maryland Center for History and Culture, Maryland’s oldest and premier cultural institution dating to 1844, where they can be better appreciated by more people and be added to the extensive McCardell archives already held in residence there.” Photos courtesy of Frederick Magazine. #Maryland...
