Learn more about Joshua Johnson, one of the first professional African American portraitists in the U.S., during a free, day-long program hosted by the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts this Friday, Jan. 14, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The event features a panel of speakers throughout the day, including Mark Letzer, President & CEO at the Maryland Center for History and Culture, who will speak 10:30-11 about the patrons Johnson painted in Baltimore. Most of MCHC's collection of Johnson portraits are currently on loan to WCMFA for an exhibition that is closing there this month on Jan. 23.
