From 1956 until 1978, the theater that is now the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Parkway was known as 5 West. Remodeled and rebranded, the art-house theater seated 435 patrons and screened a wide variety of films. Pictured here is the blouse of a 1960s usherette at 5 West. Something seemingly so mundane like a movie theater uniform can provide us with a window into past decades of moviegoing history. Visit the ongoing exhibition, “Flickering Treasures: Rediscovering Baltimore’s Forgotten Movie Theaters,” brought to you by PNCBank, and be transported to a different era through photographs, films, ticket stubs, programs, and more. Enjoy free admission to see it this Saturday, Oct. 2, during Doors Open Baltimore.
